Frontline filmmaker, Creative Industry specialist and public policy adviser, Mr. Madu C Chikwendu was honoured by the pan African organisation, Academie des Sotigui, in Ougadagou, Burkina Faso recently.

Madu was honoured alongside Nollywood star Chinedu Ikedieze(Aki), South African Wakanda star Madame Connie Mchiube and a host of African stars from all the regions of the continent at a ceremony held at the exotic Canal Olympia.
In his remark at the event, Madu noted that “More than half a century after independence Africa is still under the bondage of neo colonialism. We need a new form of radical and revolutionary filmmaking to awaken the consciousness of our people. We need to widen the path created by Franz Fanon, Leopold Sedar Senghor and Kwame Nkrumah.”
Previous Nigerian honorees include mega stars Richard Mofe Damijo and Kanayo O. Kanayo.
A co-founder of Directors Guild of Nigeria, Madu was Nigeria’s first representative at International Federation of Film Producers Association and was also the first Regional Secretary of Federation of Pan African Filmmakers.
He is a former President of the Association of Movie Producers and a BOT member of multiple guilds and also member National Development Plan (2020-2050).
